Dutch Speech Tech Day 2025 - Technology for All

Inspiring to see such engagement at the 3rd Dutch Speech Tech Day, organized by Stichting Open Spraaktechnologie! With over 100 participants from academia and industry, the discussions around inclusive speech technology were both practical and forward-looking. Particularly enjoyed moderating the closing panel on diverse communication needs.

The highlights included Prof. Antal van den Bosch’s keynote on sociolectal and idiolectal finetuning in AI models, groundbreaking research presentations on minority languages and atypical speech processing, and industry demonstrations of real-world applications in healthcare and media.

What stood out was the commitment to developing speech technology that works for everyone - from supporting minority languages to improving accessibility for users with atypical speech patterns. The mix of technical innovation and practical application showed how far Dutch speech technology has come.
