As the keynote speaker at the University of Groningen’s Open Research Award 2022, I presented our approach to building openness into the MSc Voice Technology program from the ground up. The talk highlighted how:
- Open-source tools and platforms are integrated throughout the curriculum
- Students contribute to open datasets for under-resourced languages
- Collaboration with industry partners creates an ecosystem of open innovation
- Ethical considerations inform our open research practices
The presentation demonstrated how academic programs can implement open science principles while preparing students for careers in emerging technology fields.
